It seems like the port adventures for Alaska are meant for older kids. My kids would be 2 and 5 at the time of sailing. I'm worried that the nursery will be booked and the 5 year old wont be able to do any of the port adventures.

    Ahoy there, Drew!

Welcome aboard, planDisney, and thank you for reaching out about your Alaska cruise! One of my favorite cruise memories is from my sailing to Alaska with Disney Cruise Line with my family. It's the best choice for this itinerary because Disney knows how to make it magical for Guests of every age.

"it's a small world" nursery! allows you to reserve 10 hours when your booking window opens. I recommend booking the 10 hours you want to be off exploring with your older child on a port adventure ahead of time and selecting at least one excursion you can all do together, as some allow 0-2 to participate. The good news is that once you're onboard, you can add hours and adjust if needed. I know these are first-come, first-served, depending on how many infants are aboard for your sailing, but I know they will do their best to accommodate your little one so you can enjoy your time ashore. I do suggest going straight to the nursery once it opens on embarkation day to book your additional hours. The nursery does hold back reservations for embarkation day. The hours of operation will be listed in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, which you can log in to while you are waiting at the port.

I browsed the Alaskan Port Adventure list and saw a slew of options for all ages, like the All Aboard Steam Trail, and Bear and Eagle Quest in Skagway, the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour, Alaska Family Fun and Exclusive Lumberjack Show, and Authentic Alaska Fishing in Ketchikan. In Juneau, Alaska, the Salmon Bake and Mendenhall Glacier Tour,  Alaska Whales & Rainforest Trails, and Alaska Whales & Science Adventure are all great options. In Icy Strait Point, the Back Country Jeep Adventure and Family Scavenger Hunt are fun experiences! What I've found in Alaska is that it's hard to go wrong with any one of these adventures. There's just so much to see and experience from the land and the sea that you'll love whatever you end up selecting. I always recommend having a few options picked out for when your booking window opens, and to keep checking back if something you want is sold out. Guests have up to three days before the sail date to cancel online, so it can pay off to be diligent about looking daily.

Drew, I hope I've put your mind at ease about your upcoming Alaska cruise. My children were about the same age as yours on our first sailing, and we were hooked after seven magical nights onboard. We disembarked the ship feeling like we all had the best vacation and couldn't wait to do it again with Disney Cruise Line. I hope your crew experiences the same!

Please feel free to reach out with any further questions. We'd love to help!
