It seems we may have misplaced a water bottle when we were exploring Castaway Cay. Is there a lost and found on the island or will it be brought back on the ship? Is there a way to be reunited with our item even after we disembark?

Hi there, Bowie! Welcome to planDisney!

I hope that your family had an amazing cruise and made some beautiful memories together! Disney Castaway Cay is one of my favorite places on Earth, and a visit here always puts a magical pep in my step! But I also know that the last thing any of us wants is for that pep to be dimmed, as in the case of realizing that you’ve misplaced an item there. I would be happy to share the Disney Cruise Line guidelines for Lost and Found items as well as the next steps you should take.

Disney Cruise Line does have a Lost and Found Policy, and items lost on board or on Disney Castaway Cay can still be reported missing once guests have debarked the ship. To do so, guests should complete the Lost and Found Report through Chargerback, their third-party lost-and-found service provider, and submit it. In fact, I’ve filled out this form myself after a sailing when my daughter left an item of clothing on board (and it was actually found and returned to me!).

However, some items are considered “no-hold” items and are irretrievable and, if found, will be destroyed or thrown away. Many of these “no-hold” items are food and beverage items, and unfortunately, water bottles do fall into this category if there is water or liquid in them. Therefore, there is an unfortunate possibility that the water bottle has already been destroyed or thrown out if there was water or liquid in it.

I’m sorry; I know that’s not the outcome you were hoping for. However, just to be safe and cover all of our bases, I suggest contacting Disney Cruise Line to inquire about it anyway. Let them know if there was water or liquid inside the water bottle, in this specific scenario, and they will advise you whether or not to fill out a Lost and Found Report.

Bowie, I hope I was able to offer guidance. I’m wishing on a star that you get the outcome you’re hoping for and that you continue to carry the joy and memories made on this cruise in your heart forever! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
