Seems like we are making our vac. plans around our dining reservations since they are so hard to get. Hardest part is deciding to spend most of our morning doing character bf or go to a restaurant in the evening. We are on the dining plan. Advice needed..

    Patricia:

I can understand your frustration in planning your vacation around your Disney Dining Plan. But keep in mind that you will lose its value if you don't have a reservation and either must wait for a seat or get frustrated and opt for a counter service meal instead.  Trust me, once you get to Disney, you'll be happy you've got your Advanced Dining Reservations.

When our family has the dining plan, we visit one table service restaurant a day. (I've found that dining in the restaurants at Disney takes about 1 1/2 hours, so just planning one a day is best for us so we don't feel like we're spending all day eating and not enough time in the parks.)

As for whether breakfast or dinner is better, quite frankly, the better value is to spend those dining credits at night, as dinner costs more than breakfast. Our family are morning people, so getting up early and heading to the parks is best for us. Then, when we begin to lose our steam, an early dinner at a table service restaurant can be just what we need to allow us some down time along with a good meal.

Additionally, we will pack a few breakfast items to stretch the dining plan or save a dessert from a counter meal for breakfast or spend a snack credit on a danish from one of the bakeries.  It's not as easy to with dinner.

On the flip-side, if you really want to enjoy a breakfast Character meal, consider booking the latest seating you can. This way, you can enjoy the park until 11:30 or so and then essentially have brunch and use your counter service for dinner with a snack credit to tide you over.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
