I’ve been seeing that lines are long to fly out of Orlando mco, and want to know when security opens. What do you recommend leaving from near Disney springs?

    Hi, there!

Welcome to planDisney, Cindi. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to see you'll be traveling to the Walt Disney World Resort in two short days! How fa-la-la-la-fabulous!

My family always travels to and from the Walt Disney World Resort and Pennsylvania by plane, so factoring in the travel time we need at the airport is always a must for our arrival and (sad!) departure. While we have experienced longer security lines at Orlando International Airport than we usually do at our home airport, I can tell you that we've never had an excessive, unbearable wait. The lines look daunting, but they're very efficient and move quickly. The last thing my three kids want to do is wait in a long line, but it's never been a terrible issue for us at MCO! To answer your question, a good rule of thumb is to leave your hotel 3 hours prior to your flight departure time. That should allow you plenty of time to travel to MCO, get through security, find your gate, and maybe even grab a bite to eat.

There are lots of holiday happenings to enjoy throughout the Walt Disney World Resort during your stay. My absolute favorite offering is the Candlelight Processional at the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. This classic retelling of the Christmas story is not to be missed!

I hope this was helpful, Cindi. I'm wishing you a magical and merry visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
