Where are some secret spots for an older adult who wants a little quiet and respite from all of the Disney magic for a few hours during the day?

Welcome to planDisney, Ryan! Thanks so much for sending us your question. I'm glad you found us!

The Most Magical Place on Earth has so much magic to offer, that it's good to take a break! I have my favorite spots that I enjoy when I need some quiet time to relax and refuel. If you are staying at one of the Disney Resorts Collection Hotels, I have found that it's nice to return to my resort hotel room to rest and refresh before returning for some time in the theme park during the evening.

If you are looking for a place that is convenient and accessible from theme parks, I also have some spots I love around the Walt Disney World Resort! From Magic Kingdom Park, I like to visit Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to enjoy the comfortable seating in the stunning lobby. My husband has been known to doze off in this spot! While sometimes hotel lobbies can be busy, this one is so pleasant and I never feel that it's loud or too crowded. If you are at EPCOT, I really love The Solarium at Disney's Beach Club Resort. This is located a short walk from the United Kingdom area in World Showcase, through the International Gateway. The Solarium has beautiful views, lots of natural light, and comfortable seating. At times, there is coffee and pastries available for purchase and the Beach Club Marketplace is close by if you prefer to have a larger selection of food and beverages. Another spot I love is easily accessible using the Disney Skyliner from EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios. At Disney's Riviera Resort, the Voyageurs’ Lounge is located next to Le Petit Café where you can find a great lounge menu complete with a variety of sweet and savory items, as well as an extensive selection of coffee, teas, cocktails, beer, and wine.

I find, in general, that most lounges and hotel lobbies can be great for getting off your feet. Many of these spots also have outlets and USB ports, so if you have a cell phone, be sure to have your cell phone charger with you.

If you have more questions as you are planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, please visit us again at planDisney. We would love to help!

    Happy Planning!
