So this is the second time going with my family.. Our son will be 22 months when we go in April and i was trying to figure out if i should get the meal plan for the week does it really save us money and if i should also get a park hopper ?

Hi Jesica - I highly recommend getting the Disney dining plan - the standard plan offers one snack credit, one table service credit, and one quick service credit per person per day.  You won't have to purchase the plan for your son, so he can share your meals (or eat free at any of the buffets).  In my experience, the Disney Dining Plan does offer good value.

As for a park hopper, I do recommend getting that option, if it's something you can afford.  I really like the flexibility of visiting multiple parks per day, and it allows you to have dinner in a different park from the one you've been in all day.  We generally do this throughout our vacation, and usually eat dinner at Epcot.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
