This is our second Disney Cruise though first where our daughter will be able to visit the Edge (she'll be 11). At the Edge, are the kids able to check themselves in and out?

    Ahoy Emily –
Welcome back Castaway Club Silver Member and thanks for asking such an important question! Edge is an amazing club for tweens aged 11-14 to hang out, play games and meet great friends while onboard. Last year my pirate fairy turned 11 and was so excited to visit Edge, but I was nervous to let her because at Edge the children are able to check themselves in and out. I was not comfortable with her being able to roam the ship at will so I made a deal with my princess. We agreed that we would allow her to spend time in Edge, but if she checked herself out, we gave her a list of alternative places to go so that I would not have to search the ship and find her. Being 11, she was still able to visit the Oceaneer Club (sea pups aged 3-12) and there were plenty of occasions that she desired to be at both clubs; so we got her a Magic Band for Oceaneer Club and asked the Youth Counselors to give her the ability to self-check in/out of the Club. We found this really worked well for our pirate crew, but it depends on your comfort level and the maturity of your child. Emily I hope that your pirate tween has fun navigating the different Youth Clubs on Disney Cruise Line and thank you for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
