Hiya Jaclyn,
Welcome to planDisney! If you ask me, almost nothing beats “dreaming a fantastic dream” at Fantasmic! When I visited recently, my two-year-old had her first experience watching the show where you could actually focus on it. Watching her get drawn into the story and all the fantastic magical details was so amazing.
That same trip was my then two-month-old’s first trip, so I can share some recent first-hand experiences with you that may help your dad. Unfortunately, the
Fantasmic amphitheater has bleacher seating without backing, but I wouldn’t recommend standing either. For safety reasons, Guests cannot stand in aisles or directly behind the bleachers. I was looking for a place to bounce my newborn to sleep just in case and was told by a friendly Cast Member that there was some dedicated standing space within the amphitheater, but it wasn’t the best for being able to view the show. The standing area is closer to the exit to the space, and for the best view, I always recommend being closer to the middle. Luckily, my newborn was lulled to sleep before the action started and slept through the entire nearly 30-minute show. Now, let’s discuss the potential for bringing a basic stadium cushion with a back. While nothing within the
official property rules prohibits you from bringing one in, I couldn’t recall seeing anyone with one before. I contacted Summer, a Cast Member, and she shared that it should be allowed depending on the cushion size. The Cast Members at Fantasmic and the security will have ultimate discretion, but if the cushion is not oversized and without bulky additions such as armrests and cupholders, it is likely to be allowed.
I hope this was helpful, Jaclyn! Before I let you go, if you decide to bring in a small cushion for your dad, I recommend
renting a locker at the front of the park for storage. This will save you from having to lug around the cushion all day! Please come back and see us if you need anything else.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F
