In searching for dinner reservations for August 2011, I've noticed that many places or times are not available. Does that mean they're already completely booked? What if we just showed up -- would we be looking at a long wait, or no service at all?

    Hi Jamie!

I am so glad that you are planning ahead!  Most advanced dining reservations are able to be booked 180 days in advance.  The most popular meals, such as breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, can be booked within minutes of the dining system opening.  The good news is that if you book online and your requested restaurant is not available, several alternatives will be offered.  We have actually tried some great restaurants this way!  People have also been known to cancel, so don't give up.  You may certainly show up and try to wait for a table, but you may wait hours for a table, if you even get one.  Of course, August is typically not that busy, so you may get lucky and not encounter any wait times.  I wish you the best of luck!
