I've searched, but I couldn't find it. Could someone tell me how the tickets work? Do I have to go to the park the same day I arrive or can I go the next day. We are planning our 1st trip for next summer. Also how do the fast passes work?

Hi there, Kelly! We love helping first-timers at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Let's talk WDW 101!

Last year, Walt Disney World Resort changed over to a "Date Based" ticketing structure. Basically what this means is that each day, Theme Park tickets will have a price based on different factors, such as crowd levels and time of year. Guests purchase tickets using an interactive online calendar on the Walt Disney World website that shows different ticket prices based on the dates they choose to visit. When you visit the site, you'll be asked to select the number of days you are looking to visit the Parks, as well as the ticket start date. I usually like to relax at my resort's pool or Disney Springs on our arrival day, so when I buy my tickets, I keep this in mind when choosing my start date. After you pick your start date, you'll be given the total price for your tickets, as well as the date range for how long you have to use your them.

Twenty years ago, the way we queued up for attractions completely changed with the advent of the FastPass. There have been changes in implementation since then, but with the current FastPass+ system, Guests with a My Disney Experience account can reserve a time slot to arrive at an attraction and ride it without waiting in the Standby line. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you'll be able to make your FastPass+ reservations up to 60 days in advance of your check-in for your entire length of stay (for off-property Guests, it is 30 days prior). You can make your FastPass+ selections starting at 7:00 AM EST on the date your window opens by going to your My Disney Experience account, and you can select up to three experiences for each day of your ticket at a single Park.

Kelly, if you have any more trip planning questions, we'd love for you to visit us again! See ya real soon!

Meet the Panelist: Eean, Pennsylvania

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
