Welcome aboard planDisney! A sailing aboard the Disney Treasure followed by a trip to Walt Disney World sounds like the makings of one incredible land-and-sea adventure. The only tricky part is making sure those Lightning Lanes don’t get lost somewhere between the high seas and Main Street, U.S.A.!
My crew and I have actually run into a similar situation on a few of our past sailings, and while the complimentary Wi-Fi does provide access to Disney websites, I wouldn’t exactly describe it as lightning fast. The
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app works well on the complimentary Wi-Fi, but in my experience, other Disney sites seem to operate at Flash-level speeds since the priority is keeping Navigator running smoothly. When you have Lightning Lanes you really want to snag, that’s probably not the day you want your internet connection moving at the speed of Flash!
My best recommendation is to purchase the 24-hour
Internet Package for the day your booking window opens. That should give you a much better chance of logging in, getting everything loaded, and quickly booking the Lightning Lanes that are highest on the priority list for you and your crew. The Internet Package is designed for basic web surfing and sharing photos or videos, and it should be plenty for making your Lightning Lane selections. If you also want to do some streaming while you’re connected, you could bump up to the Internet + Streaming Package, but I wouldn’t purchase that level solely for booking Lightning Lanes.
Could the complimentary Wi-Fi get you across the finish line? Possibly. But if you’re hoping to grab some of the more popular Lightning Lanes or have specific times you’re trying to book, I personally wouldn’t leave that mission to chance. I’d rather have the faster connection ready to go and tackle those reservations with a little Incredibles-level efficiency than spend my sea day watching a loading screen spin!
