Heather from ON Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hello, I have scoliosis and standing in long lines for an extended period of time takes a toll on my back and is very debilitating. I was wanting to know if I would qualify for a DAS pass?

    Hi Heather,

    Welcome to planDisney!

We are happy to provide some information that will help you navigate the parks and resorts during your upcoming visit. While I cannot make any official determination on eligibility for the Disability Access Service (DAS), my family has used this service in the past and I certainly encourage you to pre-register via live video chat. Since you are the one who will need the service, just be sure that you are available to speak with a cast member during the pre-registration process.

Assuming they determine that you are eligible for the service during the pre-registration process, I also suggest that you review the list of select attractions that may be eligible for DAS Advance Planning. With advance planning, we have been able to book up to two attractions per day that we have valid theme park admission. Then, if you have a mobile phone that can carry the My Disney Experience Mobile App, you can then use the DAS feature on the mobile app to book one DAS attraction at a time. This "rolling" DAS can be booked throughout the day in addition to your advance selections. With the "rolling" DAS, you can only have one active return time at a time.

As you plan for your visit, I also encourage you to review the other Services for Guests with Disabilities. On a prior trip, we rented an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV) for my husband at EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom because those parks are so expansive. The ECV Rental process was easy to navigate. Just know that these are available on a first come, first serve basis, so if you decide to rent one, I suggest you do so early in the day. We also use the Guides for Guests with Disabilities. These guide maps denote special viewing areas for guests with disabilities for select shows if those are available.

Heather, you have some time before you can complete the DAS pre-registration process. While you can pre-register 30 to two days prior to your visit, I would not wait until two days prior. The earlier you pre-register, the more availability there should be for those advance selections. When you are able to try the live video chat, just be aware that it could take some time to connect with a cast member. In the past, it has taken me a few hours while on other days it has not taken as long.

One final tip - your visit will coincide with Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Consider this experience as a part of your visit. I love the characters and the treats!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
