Hiya, Sarah!
It’s so wonderful to hEAR your students will be visiting the Happiest Place on Earth! The Disneyland Resort is such a wonderful treat, full of history,
educational opportunities, and a big dose of Disney magic!
I had a word with Coco the monkey, a friend of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and all their pals.
Coco has type 1 diabetes. So she was able to teach me a lot. She told me how she measures her food to determine the right dosage of insulin to use to keep her glucose level stable. Knowing the carbohydrate content of foods is an important part of keeping healthy for everyone, but especially for those with diabetes. Coco also loves to visit her pals at the Disneyland Resort. Of course, she’s welcome to take her
own food and drink with her to have fixed, known carb counts already. But she also enjoys many of the
delicious and healthy dining options at the theme parks.
To learn the right carb contents of foods at the Disneyland Resort, Coco tells me that nutritional information may be requested at each
dining location. Due to the large volume of meals served at the Disneyland Resort, vendors and suppliers frequently substitute products, update menu items, and change preparation methods. Therefore, to receive the most current information, it is important to speak to a Cast Member when you arrive at each location. You may also
email the Disneyland Resort Special Diets team with any specific question or concern.
I sure hope your students enjoy their visit to the Disneyland Resort. Say, do you want to share a special secret surprise with them? You can tell them to ask a cast member in Adventureland where
The Little Man of Disneyland lives. Guests can find his home not too far from
Bengal Barbecue, which, by the way, is a great place to go for delicious, low-carb jungle skewers.
See ya real soon, Sarah!
