We are scheduled for an 8:30 pm Starlight Safari tour and are scheduled for dinner at Yak &Yeti at 6:15 pm. How far is it/ how long does it take to get to The safari tour from Yak & Yeti - worried we won’t have enough time to get there.

Hi Patricia and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you have a fun evening planned for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation!  Yak & Yeti Restaurant is my favorite table-service restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.  My husband and I really like the wok-fried green beans and the pork pot stickers for appetizers.  My go-to entree is always the chicken tikka masala and my husband jumps around the menu when we visit.  I love that there is a wide variety of options for kids as well including the staples of chicken tenders or mac & cheese.

The Starlight Safari in the Enchanting Extras Collection is on my list of things to experience.  I love all of the tours that involve the animals at either Animal Kingdom or at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  I have heard nothing but excellent reviews about this safari from friends who have already done it.

Yak & Yeti Restaurant and the Starlight Safari are located in two totally different places.  The restaurant is inside of the theme park, but the Safari is at Kidani Village in Animal Kingdom Lodge.  You will need to take a complimentary Disney bus from the park to the hotel for the tour or drive if you have your own car.  Disney always recommends giving yourself an hour and a half for travel time when you're going from place to place.  Being someone who is always paranoid of being late, I would definitely abide by that rule.  The tour requires check-in at least 15 minutes early, so I would shoot for arriving at the hotel by 8:00 PM to give you time to park the car or walk from the bus stop to the lobby to be at check-in by 8:15 PM.  Given that time, I would recommend heading out of the park by 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM at the latest, so a 6:15 PM dinner will not work, in my opinion.  If you're able, I suggest changing your dinner reservations to an earlier time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you'll be visiting right in the heart of spring break crowds, so this could slow down your transportation time as well, even the foot traffic leaving the park.

Another option is to change your dining location.  Sanaa is a fantastic restaurant located right at Kidani Village.  The bread service is the most talked about offering at this restaurant and I can attest that it's delicious!  Since it's located at the same place as the Safari, you won't have to go far after dinner.

I know my answer probably isn't what you were hoping for, but I would hate for you to miss out on this amazing experience or feel rushed through dinner.  Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
