I am scheduled to arrive in Orlando FL at 2pm on Christmas Eve. Do you think we'll have time to get to dinner reservations by 4:15?

    Hi Shelia,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for sending your question my way. A Christmas Eve spent at Walt Disney World will be so amazingly magical, and I am so excited for. Enjoy every minute of the Christmas wonder.

Just as Santa and his reindeer have to prepare for unexpected surprises along their Christmas Eve flight path, your pixie-dusted path from Orlando International Airport to your festive dinner has a few unknowns. Provided your flight lands on time, it will take about 20-30 minutes to make your way from your gate to the loading area for Disney’s Magical Express. From there, there are some variables that make the length of your trip unpredictable.

Wait times for a motorcoach are unpredictable, and you may find yourself waiting for the bus to fill up before it can depart. The bus trip to Walt Disney World takes about 45 minutes, but the bus may stop at multiple resorts before arriving at yours. Common wisdom is to give yourself 60-75 minutes for Disney’s Magical Express, but it really does vary.

Once you arrive at your resort, you’ll need to make your way to your dining location. If the location is in the same resort where you’re staying, that will make a 4:15 dinner reservation more feasible. If not, keep in mind that you’ll need to use Walt Disney World transportation, Minnie Van Service, or taxi service to arrive at your dining location.

Shelia, all of that is to say that it’s possible, but not guaranteed. My advice is to ask the Disney’s Magical Express Cast Member how long the wait is expected to be, and then you may choose to take Uber, Lyft, or taxi service straight from the airport to your dining location.

I’m wishing you a fantastic Christmas Eve dinner, and an unforgettable Christmastime at Walt Disney World!
