how do you say mickey mouse, minnie mouse, donald duck, daisy duck, peter pan, tinkerbell and snow white in sign language. Please send me an image or a good description of how to make the sign so that I can teach my child. Thank you

    Hi Joanne!

I love sign language! My children are hearing but I taught them sign language from the time they were babies and my daughter knows well over 100 signs.

I do not know any "official" signs but I did look some signs up online and according to savvysigning.com Mickey Mouse DOES have his own sign: make 2 "c's" with your hands and tap them to the top of your head--just like his big ears!

I'm pretty sure just fingerspelling M-I-C-K-E-Y and then singing "mouse" (tip of index finger slides down nose) would be appropriate, too. This would also go for D-O-N-A-L-D and duck, etc. (Actually, now that I think about it, when I was on my last Disney cruise, I stayed up late enough for the "kiss goodnight" and all the characters fingerspelled Mickey's name!)

I'd also check out the signingtime.com forums because you can ask some great signing moms what they sign with their kids.

Also, if you or your children are hearing impaired, please contact Guest Relations because there are interpreters available to travel with you and at many of the attractions. As a hearing person, I enjoy watching the interpreters because they are outstanding and dramatic!

    Enjoy your vacation!
