I saw the WDW monorail & other train sets online. Are any of these sold at WDW & where? How are they made (plastic, metal, nice)? Do any of you know? Have you seen these or do you have one? I have boys 6 & 2. Coming in Nov. & may want them

    Hi Kristie,

My answer to your question will divulge another level of me being a Disney-Fanatic. I have collected theme park "play" pieces since before I had kids. In addition to my Disney tree, I did an entire 4 park Christmas Village & bought almost every play set they sold - Cinderella Castle, Tree of Life, Spaceship Earth, Main Street Train Station, Contemporary Hotel, Haunted Mansion, Astro Orbiter, etc.

My pieces also include the one of  the train sets & the Monorail both of which are still available at WDW. You can usually find them at many of the major merchandise locations in the theme parks. You can also find them at Once Upon a Toy & World of Disney at Downtown Disney.

The sets I have are mostly plastic but well made. They also sale extra track for both the monorail & train sets (straight and curved pieces). They do include some small pieces so they aren't recommended for children under 3.

We now have 2 monorails as my youngest son wanted one & I wasn't ready to let him know about my treasures in the basement. His monorail is a newer model & a little different.  The doors open & tops lift up so that you can put little characters in them. A few characters came with his monorail & you can purchase additional ones. These characters are very small & in my opinion don't really sit in the seats as they should so I wouldn't spend money on the extra characters. If you open the doors & tops a lot, they will come off but you can snap them back on.

I love both my train & monorail because they are Disney of course. There are lots of non-Disney train sets for kids but the monorail is extra special because its one of kind.  I haven seen any other monorail play sets anywhere else.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to assist you. Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
