I saw on a recent picture that the Disney Dream fitness center has two Peloton bikes! How does that work at sea without internet? And do we need to bring bike shoes?

    Hi there, Jennifer!

I'm so glad I get to respond to your question. Alas! Not because I'm a major Pelotoner, but because the Disney Dream is the ship my family and I will be on for our next Disney Cruise Line vacation too! We are really excited for it. Our most recent cruise on the Disney Fantasy, the Dream's sister ship, was over New Years Eve. And our upcoming vacation on the Dream will be a Halloween on the High Seas specialty cruise. I'm looking forward to comparing the experiences.

As I said, I'm not personally into spinning on a Peloton. I tend to enjoy relaxing in the Rainforest Room or indulging in a decadent brunch in Palo instead. But I always make a point to visit the fitness center on the Disney Cruise Line ships at least once during our sailings. And, luckily, you and I've got a friend in my fellow planDisney Panelist Sean. Sean is an avid Pelotoner and shared with me his spintastic secrets to making the most of your Peloton workout on the Disney Dream.

First, you may feel free to unplug and relax during your Disney cruise. Of course, you are welcome to purchase an Internet plan to use with your personal devices onboard if you must. But no such purchase is necessary to make use of available Peloton stationary bikes. All you will need is to remember the username and password of your personal Peloton account to log in on the bike screen and participate in classes just like you're used to.

As far as bike shoes go, you may choose to bring yours or not. Peloton bikes onboard the Disney Cruise Line feature clips to attach your bike shoes on one side of the pedals. If you rotate the pedals around, you'll find an attached toe cage into which you may slip the toes of any sneaker you may choose to wear for a reasonably secure hold on the pedals. It's up to you. But if you were to follow my planDisney pal Sean's advice, you would likely leave your bike shoes at home and save that extra luggage space for the souvenirs and Disney Cruise Line merchandise you are almost sure to need to bring home with you.

Now that you bring it up, maybe spinning on the high seas does sound like a great time. I may just have to see about giving it a try myself on the Dream next month! I hope you find it enjoyable during your cruise too.

Thanks for stopping by planDisney, Jennifer!
