I saw a map that showed outdoor smoking areas. Can I pick a room that is not near one of thoes? My children have breathing problems and need it smoke free around thier room as well as in it.

    Hi Michael:

Disney World works hard to try to honor room requests.  I would start by contacting the Disney reservations line (or whomever made your reservation, such as a travel agent) to record your request for a particular room, section, or location away from any smoking areas. Disney will note your room request, though cannot guarantee it will be granted.

Several days before you arrive, I would call your Resort directly to confirm that your request is listed.

When you arrive at the Resort, hopefully you will find that your room request was able to be honored.  If not, ask if such a room will be available in a few hours.  Such flexibility may help the Cast Member secure the desired location.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.
