I saw some comment that Disney Adventure can't use magic band/band+ so what we will use on-board?

Ahoy there, Sucheera! I’m honored to welcome you aboard planDisney!

It’s so exciting that you’re going to be sailing aboard the stunning Disney Adventure! There are so many things to be excited about on this very unique Disney cruise ship, but the one I’m personally most excited for is the Ironcycle Test Run roller coaster! I caught a glimpse of it peeking out from the deck of the Disney Adventure when she sailed past me while aboard the Disney Treasure last week, and I was blown away!

While it’s true that DisneyBand+ may not be available during your sailing aboard the Disney Adventure, never fear, as there is another time-tested option! I’ve been sailing with Disney Cruise Line for over ten years, and DisneyBand+ has only been a thing very recently. Before DisneyBand+ we used our trusty Key to the World Cards, and they do the exact same thing as DisneyBand+!

Since the Disney Adventure has not yet sailed, we are still not absolutely sure of protocols, such as when Key to the World Cards will be handed out. On previous Disney cruises, my family has been handed our Key to World Cards while checking in at the port, and more recently, they’ve been given to us in an envelope outside of our stateroom door at 1:30 PM. We will know more once the Disney Adventure sails on her maiden voyage, but my best guess is that it will be one of those two scenarios.

At this time, Guests on other Disney cruise ships are still given their Key to the World Cards, even if every family member has a DisneyBand+. I have seen some people carry only a DisneyBand+ and some carry only their Key to the World Card. So do not fear one working better over the other, as they do the same thing.

You can use your Key to the World Card to open your stateroom door, pay for items on board such as in the stores and specialty dining. If you have kids being checked out of Disney’s Oceaneer Club or “it’s a small world” nursery!, you will use it to check them out. You will use it to embark and disembark, as well as to pay for any experiences on board, such as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

One more thing, Sucheera. If this is your first Disney cruise, I suggest bringing a lanyard for each member of your stateroom. This will house your Key to the World Cards during your sailing, and make them easier to carry around. If you have already been on a Disney cruise within the last five years, congrats, as you’re already a member of the Castaway Club, and you will be provided with lanyards inside your stateroom that coincide with the level of your membership (silver, gold, platinum, or pearl).

Sucheera, I hope this was helpful, and you feel more at ease knowing your Key to the World Card isn’t just your key card on board, but your key to all the magical memories you’re about to make! I wish you many magical memories ahead! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.

    Bon Voyage,
