Hi, Adam! Or as they say on the planet Batuu, "Bright suns!"
Last week, there was a great deal of excitement throughout the galaxy when it was announced that
several experiences are now accepting reservations in preparation for the opening of
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at
Disney's Hollywood Studios. Guests wishing to make reservations for
Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers,
Droid Depot, or
Oga's Cantina can now do so up to 180 days in advance. I was so excited when my friend managed to make us a reservation for Oga's Cantina when we will be visiting in a few weeks. Once I reach that magical 180- day mark for my next family trip, I hope to secure reservations to build lightsabers with my young Padawans.
When I visit the Walt Disney World
theme parks, I usually carry a small backpack along with me. I have no issues holding my bag on my lap or placing it at my feet while experiencing
attractions. However, the lightsabers constructed at Savi's Workshop are much longer than a backpack, so it may be difficult to safely carry your lightsaber onto rides. Besides, you don't want any First Order Stormtroopers to spot you carrying your lightsaber throughout Black Spire Outpost. They might stop you and question you about your allegiance.
When you purchase merchandise from most retail locations throughout the theme parks, you have a couple of
options if you would prefer not to carry your purchases with you throughout the day. At the time of purchase, you can ask the retail clerk to have your merchandise sent to a convenient pick-up location near the front of the park. You can then pick up your packages as you are exiting the theme park at the end of the day. If you are staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you can also ask to have your merchandise sent directly to your hotel for you to pick up. In my experience, your merchandise will not be sent directly to your room. Instead, it will be held for you to pick up at your resort hotel's gift shop.
Since Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers has not yet opened, we do not know if merchandise pickup and delivery will work in exactly the same way. I would recommend asking one of the Gatherers (Cast Members at Savi's Workshop) about this when you arrive. Also, keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for all of the latest Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge news.
May the Force be with you!
