Hi Kimberly!
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am sad to say that the Disney Vacation Account Program was discontinued back in 2017. However, I would be happy to help you come up with a Plan B!
When I plan a Disney vacation, the first thing I do is price my vacation on the
Walt Disney World Resort site. Next, I calculate the cost and take in to account how much time I have before I have to pay the full and final balance. With that information in mind, I set my budget and figure out how much I need to set aside each week. Whatever that amount is, I purchase a Disney Gift Card, which can be used
towards the payment of the vacation. This is my way of saving for my Disney vacation. What I like about the Disney Gift Cards is that you can even create an account on the
Disney Gift Card page which allows you to add multiple Disney Gift Cards. You can also transfer balances between them or consolidate the balances to one Disney Gift Card (up to $1,500 per card). A fellow panelist once told me that when would do her weekly grocery shopping, she would add a $25 Disney Gift Card to her shopping cart. Before she realized it, she had $1,300 saved in Disney Gift Cards! I loved this idea and now find myself randomly buying Disney Gift Cards at the supermarket! I hope this helps you with your budget planning.
Did you know? From time to time, Disney will release special offers such as free dining plans, special room rates or great ticket offers. This is another great way to save money on future vacations! Be sure to find these and other great discounts on this page:
Special Offers.
It has been a pleasure assisting you Kimberly! Please feel free to send me any other questions you may have!
