Bright Suns April, or in this case Rising Moons to you from Batuu!
I'd like to wish you another warm welcome back to planDisney; looking back to some of your earliest questions for us here it definitely seems like
those youngsters that you've taken for your Walt Disney World Resort vacations year after year have started to rapidly grow into young adults faster than Han Solo completed the Kessel Run! Imagine what a change it is from
attending their first Jedi Training Academy experience to learning from the secrets of the Gatherers and
building their own Lightsaber at Savi's Workshop. As I write to you from a late night under the two moons of Batuu, I can do my best to shed some light on your questions:
- Snagging the last possible slot at Savi's Workshop is one those experiences that Star Wars aficionados will often recommend as it not only allows you to enjoy your day at Disney's Hollywood Studios without having to carry it around or find a place to store it - let alone worry about accidentally slicing anyone's appendages off. The biggest draw is that a late reservation here or over at Oga's Cantina is having the chance to take some stellar shots amid the glow of your lightsaber without the daytime crowds well after closing time. You might be fortunate to encounter a Disney PhotoPass Cast Member but they let me know that there is no guarantee that you'll find one scheduled that late in the evening. (When we recently did this as some friendlier Cast Members and citizens of Batuu graciously allowed us the opportunity to get closer to the Millennium Falcon for some great photos, but experiences may vary other guests have been directly escorted off-planet instead.)
- I checked with a Cast Member who confirmed that the show is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on August 13, 2023 in August, but also that during that month showtimes are indeed set to change quite a bit for Fantasmic! Bear in mind that though the show is 29 minutes long, this is subject to change without notice and it has even started slightly later on a number of the occasions that we've watched it this year. It's a good idea to always confirm your showtime on the day as we've also had surprise changes occur while we were already there!
- Due to the additional time that it typically takes to very politely wait to exit among the crowds after the show, whether it's from where you entered and down Sunset Boulevard or on the secondary exit path along Perimeter Road, you'll have to battle the flow of folks headed in the opposite direction from Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. (We've also experienced vigilant Cast Members who may attempt to stop or turn you around until you show them a valid reservation!)
Since you'll want to check in at Savi's Workshop prior to your scheduled time, I personally wouldn't risk it unless I was attending the 9:00 p.m. showtime or even better, when it switches to 8:30 p.m. at the end of August. You're always welcome to come back again soon April, we'll be waiting here at planDisney!
Here's to some late-night adventuring in a galaxy far, far away!
