Is the Savannah View rooms at AK worth the extra money? My son is 4 almost 5 by December, he loves animals, but would the money be spent better elsewhere?

It’s always been worth the extra money to us. But this will depend on your vacation budget. It’s about $65 more per night and depending on your length of stay, this cost can really add up.

Yes, you can enjoy the Animal Kingdom Lodge without a Savannah View room. But I can’t imagine staying there without this room type. And…I’ll be truthful that I typically book standard view rooms at all of the other resorts. So I’m very careful to save money at other resorts by booking standard views but at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, it has always seemed to me that the view matters.

I have precious memories of my son stepping on to the balcony, his eyes as wide as could be as he took in the animals. I loved our quiet mornings sitting on the balcony watching giraffes enjoy their morning breakfast while my son ate his cereal. Whether viewing the animals through the morning mist or in the evening via the artificial moonlight, the experience always amazes me.

For animal lovers, this is truly a safari-like vacation.
