Hi there, Richard, and welcome back to planDisney! It's the best day ever when I get to help out a fellow fitness center aficionado, and like Hercules, I'm ready to go the distance to find an answer to your question today.
Your stay at
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is just around the corner--I am sure you're getting excited! I'll be returning to
Walt Disney World Resort this fall with some of my panelist pals, and we chose to stay at Saratoga Springs for its Victorian ambiance, the fantastic
pools, and the proximity to all that
Disney Springs has to offer.
Whenever I travel to Walt Disney World, I always seem to wake up before the sun--I guess I'm just that excited! I usually lace up my running shoes for an early-morning exploratory jog around the resort where we're staying and end at the fitness center for workout phase #2. Saratoga Springs has a lovely pedestrian bridge that connects with Disney Springs, which allows you to add some mileage if you're hoping to fit in a longer run AND hop in line at
Gideon's Bakehouse to treat yourself to a legendary cookie and a peanut butter cold brew!
Richard, I'm happy to report that although the spa at Saratoga Springs has not reopened at this time, the health club is open for business. It's very well-equipped with cardio equipment, strength machines, free weights, and functional fitness gear. If Phil were looking for a spot to train Hercules (those pecs aren't gonna train themselves, right?), I think he would be very pleased with the setup!
Once you crush your workout goals, the day is yours to enjoy! Here's a couple of suggestions for your early March vacation:
- Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park is a great spot to cool off on a hot day. Our family loves to squeeze in a visit to conquer Teamboat Springs and enjoy some leisurely laps on the lazy river. Be sure to check up-to-date park hours upon your arrival.
- The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival will be in full bloom upon your arrival! You can refuel post-workout at the Outdoor Kitchens and end your day enjoying some great bands at the Garden Rocks Concert Series!
- Stroll over the aforementioned pedestrian bridge to Disney Springs and catch a performance of the Cirque du Soleil show Drawn to Life, which is simply amazing! It blends classic Disney stories with the mind-blowing feats that Cirque du Soleil is known for. There's not a bad seat in the theater and our family loves the show.
Well, Richard, I hope you have a memorable and relaxing Walt Disney World vacation! Thanks so much for visiting planDisney and please don't hesitate to reach out again if we can send some extra pixie dust your way.
Stay Magical!
Susan
