What is the sand in the Boneyard made out of? I read that it is soft and doesn't stick-what is it?

    Hi Jill,

My son just loved playing in the Boneyard at Disney's Animal Kingdom during his first visit at age five.  We spent quite a bit of time there on that visit.

What I've heard about the "sand" at the Boneyard is that it is actually a fine, smooth gravel that drains easily of water.  It feels like the traditional sand you might find on the beach but it won't stick to your hands and clothes the way normal sand would.

I hope your child(ren) enjoy the Boneyard on your next trip!
