San Diego to Mexico 3 nights

Ahoy, Vanesa, and welcome to planDisney! I'm very fond of the Baja cruises – the first big adventure my husband and I had with our two young kids was on the Disney Wonder between San Diego and Ensenada. I'm happy to share some information that might inspire you to set sail!

There are a few 3-night cruises departing out of San Diego in March 2027, all of which are aboard the Disney Wonder. At the time of writing this, I see three options, each of which spans Friday to Monday:

    • Depart on March 5 or 19: Stop at Ensenada and have a day at sea.
    • Depart on March 26: Stop at Ensenada and Catalina Island.
There are several port adventures you can choose from in Ensenada, such as zip-lining, horseback riding, and wine tasting. I'll never forget seeing sea lions in the bay from the ship's portholes when we were docked there. I visited Catalina Island often growing up. It has cute shops, miniature golf, glass-bottom boat tours, and more.

Which cruise you choose depends on a few factors. If you really want time to explore everything the ship has to offer, or if you've been to Catalina Island many times, you might choose the itinerary that includes a day at sea. If this is your first cruise and you like the flexibility to stay on board or spend some time on land at the port, you might prefer the itinerary that visits Catalina Island. If you want to sail during the week instead of over a weekend, look into the 4-night cruises.

Let's talk about the Disney Wonder. It's smaller than some of the other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, but there's something special about that. It's easy to navigate, and the atmosphere feels a little more intimate. There are some great themed dining options – my favorite is Tiana's Place, where you'll enjoy live jazz music and Louisiana-style cuisine. You'll notice theming from "The Little Mermaid" in areas of the ship, especially in the atrium, where a bronze statue of Ariel greets Guests. Like all Disney Cruise Line ships, there are lounges, activities, Broadway-style shows, and more. All this to say, it's easy to fill your days on board, especially with a shorter cruise.

At other times of the year, you can also sail on the Disney Magic out of San Diego. This is a sister ship of the Disney Wonder – they are very similar in layout and size, but have some variations in the rotational dining, theming, and entertainment. If you have flexibility in your plans, consider joining one of the Halloween- or holiday-themed cruises. These itineraries have not yet been announced for 2027.

The Disney Cruise Line website has a helpful tool to find cruises that best suit your needs. You can either book online or speak with a Cast Member by phone. In no time, you'll be bibbidi, bobbidi, booked!

Vanesa, I hope this information helps as you weigh your options and plan a cruise. Please reach out if you think of any other questions. We're always happy to help here at planDisney.

    Smooth sailing ahead,
