Samantha K I am planning a trip with my parents and my dad doesn't like crowds. Do you have suggestions of some good sit down meals we could do that would allow us to get out of the parks for a while and away from the crowds. Thanks.

Hi, Jennifer!  It's great to see you back here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I see that you're planning a trip for this October and that just happens to be one of my favorite times to fall into magic at Walt Disney World Resort!  During October, you'll be able to experience two of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort events, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

That's so wonderful that you will be vacationing with your parents this fall, Jennifer!  Sometimes we all need a little break from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks, so I can certainly understand your dad wanting to relax with a nice meal outside of the parks.  Some of the best restaurants in Walt Disney World can be found at the resort hotels.  It would be my pleasure to suggest some of my favorite "hidden gem" restaurants where your family can unwind and enjoy a delicious meal.

Just a quick monorail ride from Magic Kingdom Park at Disney's Contemporary Resort, you will find The Wave...of American Flavors.  If you take the monorail just a few more stops to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you can delight in the gorgeous waterfront views at Narcoossee's or enjoy the more laid-back atmosphere of Grand Floridian Cafe.  I highly recommend Grand Floridian Cafe's brunch!  When you leave Magic Kingdom Park, if you hop on a boat instead of the monorail, you can travel to Disney's Wilderness Lodge for a casual waterside meal at Geyser Point Bar & Grill.  Their bison cheeseburger is a favorite among my family.

When you're visiting EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios, Ale & Compass Restaurant is just a quick walk or boat ride away at Disney's Yacht Club Resort.  Be sure to start your meal at this restaurant with the Parker House rolls and spreads.  From either of these two parks, you could also hop on the Disney Skyliner and visit Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera at the brand new Disney's Riviera Resort.

From Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is just a quick bus ride away.  At this resort hotel, you can enjoy an amazing meal with a savanna view at Sanaa or a bountiful buffet at Boma - Flavors of Africa.
