Hi, Diane, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for bringing your sales tax question to us so you don't have any unpleasant surprises on your trip to Walt Disney World. I'm happy to help break it down for you.
It sounds like you already saw a
similar question my pal Keri answered for another Guest, and I can confirm these sales tax rates are still valid. Sales tax in Florida can vary by county. Most of Walt Disney World is located in Orange County, which has a 6.5% sales tax rate on meals, but a portion is also located in Osceola County, with a 7.5% sales tax rate. Please keep in mind that these rates are subject to change.
It sounds like you might be like me in that I want to know up front how much things are going to cost. This is where a
Disney Dining Plan can come in really handy. If you choose to add a dining plan to your package, you will have already paid the fixed cost prior to your visit. This means you won't have to think about which county a particular restaurant is in when planning for meals.
I couldn't help but notice you're visiting in October, which is the height of spooky season at Walt Disney World. This is my favorite time of year to visit for two reasons. Dates haven't been announced yet, but if you can work
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party into your schedule, I highly recommend it. It's so much fun for all ages. I just love being able to go trick-or-treating in my Halloween costume as an adult. Also, based on prior years, I expect
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing during your visit. This is my favorite festival of the year, and if you do decide to get the dining plan, many of the Global Marketplaces accept snack credits for select items. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog because that's usually where details like dates, tickets and menus are first announced.
Diane, I hope your trip is wonderful and that you bring any other questions you may have back to planDisney.
Have a magical trip!
Melanie
