How exciting that you’re about to embark on your first family trip outside of the United Kingdom! I love that your first international family trip is on board the
Disney Treasure! We have this itinerary in common, because the first 7-Night Disney cruise with my daughter was also when she was 18 months old, on board the Disney Fantasy! We sailed this exact itinerary that you’re about to sail, so I’d love to share the activities we did and my tips to help you plan for your upcoming sailing!
Like you, especially when my kids were babies, I preferred more low-key activities, such as walking during our Port Days. Walking was, and still is, our favorite Port Day activity! It allows us to stretch our legs after being on board the ship and explore the beautiful port we’ve stopped at. So, yes, you’re absolutely more than welcome to simply walk around the port. You’re not required to book a Port Adventure at all. I think exploring the port and all the beautiful discoveries we’re about to make is an adventure in itself! This is how we've sampled delicious lunch menus in the Port of Cozumel (gimme all the chips and guac!) and incredible coffee in the Port of Falmouth.
My big tip for walking around the port with a baby is to bring a stroller with you on board. While
there are strollers available to borrow from the Disney Treasure (pretty cool Disney cruise perk, right?!), they are available on a first-come basis. Plus, I was always partial to the compact foldable one that I would bring on board, and it saved me on many Port Day walks!
As for safety, Disney Cruise Line is always committed to guest safety, first and foremost. They’re not stopping at a port that isn’t safe for guests to walk around in. The biggest tip I can give here is that, as in any foreign country, stick to the port areas, as these are designated tourist areas. If you decide to wander farther, I suggest booking a Port Adventure tour with Disney Cruise Line, as this would be the safest option.
Lastly, I want to remind you of all the amazing baby amenities that are available on your Disney cruise!
“it’s a small world” nursery! is a nursery designated for babies and toddlers during Operating Hours for an additional fee, but during
Open House hours, all of you can go in and play together. In the
“Special Requests” section of your reservation, you can request a
Pack 'n Play, Diaper Genie, bottle warmer, and/or toddler bed rails. During
Rotational Dining, you can also request baby food to be mashed for your baby. Disney Cruise Line truly makes cruising with a baby so easy and actually fun! Another fun spot on board the Disney Treasure is the Toy Story Splash Zone, which is a super fun
splash pad just for toddlers and preschoolers!
