We're sailing this summer on the 9 night Alaska cruise. What do you suggest for the "Must Sea" on this once in a lifetime cruise? We are 2 adults and 2 teen boys from the East Coast.

    Hi there, Jenny!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so excited to hEAR you are headed to Alaska with Captain Mickey this summer and I am even more glad that you asked me this question!  Why?!?!  Because MY family is booked on the same voyage and it got me thinking – and super excited – about this incredible itinerary!

The last time my family cruised on an Alaskan adventure I had a four-month-old and a 17-month-old!  Yes, we most definitely had a memorable experience and were able to do and “sea” a lot, there were definitely things that we didn’t do on that particular voyage, so we are excited for the opportunity again!  Some of the things that I would most definitely recommend doing and not missing include – whale watching, the Mendenhall Glacier and a floatplane ride!  We managed to do these three things during our first time to Alaska and they did not disappoint whatsoever!  In fact, we have talked about them so much and shown pictures to our boys from that trip so often that they in fact want to do them!

I always like to book our excursions through  Port Adventures because I know they have done all the legwork and resEARch allowing us to just show up and enjoy the experience without stressing over where to meet or worse yet – will we make it back to the ship before it leaves?!?!  Definitely things you don’t want to worry about while on vacation so booking through Disney Cruise Line is an excellent way to do it.  Port Adventures offers several ways to visit the Mendenhall Glacier – some more adventurous than others, so I recommend finding something that fits everyone’s needs and abilities and go with that!  With some longer days at port, you will likely have the chance to explore some of the port town on your own after your excursions which is always a fun and memorable thing to do.  Additionally, there are some “teen only” departures which look like a lot of fun and if my boys were old enough, I would gladly send them off with their new friends!  On our previous voyage we did not visit Victoria, but we plan on visiting the Butchart Gardens as I have heard they are not to be missed!  Also try to get some local seafood (if that’s your thing) because where else will you get to have the freshest catch available?!?!

With so many amazing things to “sea” and do, you really WON’T go wrong with any of your choices!  Enjoy every bit of it and I hope to see you onboard!  I will be the one with the two crazy boys!
