Ahoy there, Samantha, and thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question ahead of your spirited adventure! I think I’ve sailed the
Halloween on the High Seas cruise more than any other itinerary, so I’m excited to get to be the one to help you with your planning.
I know you mentioned you’re on a
4-Night HOTHS sailing in September, but without knowing the ship and exact dates, it’s hard for me to provide a detailed itinerary. That being said, most of those sailings tend to have Pirate Night happening on the third night of your cruise. Even more exciting is that it is also typically accompanied by fireworks after the
Deck Party, as long as the weather cooperates.
The festivities begin for my family the minute we find those cute red Mickey Mouse pirate bandanas placed on the bed in our stateroom. From there, we dress up in our best pirate garb (my kids are older now, so that usually looks like a white shirt with black pants and red shoes…with the bandana of course!) and head to that night's show in the Walt Disney Theatre since we prefer the later seating for
rotational dining.
Then we feast like a pirate at a dinner that’s also themed and typically provides a Caribbean twist on the dish names and flavors. Some of my favorites in the past have been Cortes’s Cilantro Marinated Caribbean Grouper Filet and Chevalle’s Lamb Shank. But the real highlight of the evening for me is the aforementioned party that follows up on the pool deck.
While costumes are by no means required, you’ll find a lot of your fellow scalawags dressing up each night of the cruise. I love taking pictures with my favorite Disney Pals in their Halloween costumes, as well as sitting in the huge portholes with jack-o-lantern overlays on the windows. Check your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for where and when those Character Greetings will occur.
I hope this information has helped you get even more giddy about your upcoming voyage, Samantha. If you want to provide more details about your specific sailing, I’d be happy to help you again here at
planDisney.
Embrace the magic,
Sami
