Hi Moms! We're sailing in October, 2010. I've heard there is a way for us to "meet" some of the other families online who will be sailing with us. Our kids might like that. Any safety concerns of exchanging info online like this?

    Hi Kim,

Welcome to the Moms Panel - your cruise is just around the corner, how exciting!  There are many very popular "fan" sites available on the web that have organized discussions based on sail dates.  This allows for travelers to get to know each other and plan activities together while onboard.  One of the most frequented sites is www.disboards.com where they have an entire section dedicated to Disney Cruise Line.

Now that I've told you where you can find fellow travelers, let me put on my "Mom" hat and offer a few words of caution.  As fun and exciting as it is to share information with fellow travelers - keep in mind that this is a public forum.  Anyone can see what you post, and you really have no way of knowing who has seen your information.  For the hundreds of people that post on such boards, there are hundreds if not thousands that simply lurk and read the messages.  You will find that people are willing to share an incredible amount of information, from their kids names and ages to their hometown and stateroom number.  I would never recommend putting this type of information in a public forum, not only for the safety of you and your family while onboard - but for the security of your home while you are gone.  Now don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean that you can't participate on some level - but keep it general.  Make sure your profile has limited information (such as your state only, not your town), don't post your stateroom number and maybe only use your childrens ages and gender (no names).

So don't be afraid to check out who is sailing with you - but just use good common sense when participating in these public forums.
