Ahoy Marc –
Congratulations on your upcoming cruise in just a little over a month! Your pirate crew must be thrilled to spend some time on a relaxing
Disney Cruise Line vacation. I like the idea of planning ahead, and you can bet to save money on upcoming cruises by booking them while currently sailing. I just returned from sailing a little over a week ago, and I booked a cruise for next year while onboard. By doing so, I saved 10% off the prevailing rates and I scored a $200 onboard credit. Also, I have locked in some great savings because cruise fares tend to increase as the sail date approaches. That being said, I think it is a good idea to book your Halloween cruise while you are on your cruise in May. After it is booked, you can move it to a different date and you have up to 24 months to change your dates if needed. Once your deposit is paid, there is time to cancel your booking for a full refund (whether booked online or onboard) as long as you honor the cancellation windows in the
Cruise Terms and Conditions. After a certain time period (90 days prior to embarkation - for most reservations), you will not be able to cancel without penalties. If you book your cruise prior to your May sailing, then you will not be able to book that same week while you are onboard since the onboard booking agents cannot cancel an existing reservation to make a new one. Perhaps a good way to get around that would be to book your October cruise now, and then you can book a different week once onboard – remember those weeks can be changed later. Marc, we hope you have happy planning and thanks for visiting with us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
