Hi! We are sailing out of FLL for the first time. When we disembark, what are our transportation options to travel to Disney World? What are those processes and logistics?

Ahoy there, Kassie. Welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you’re planning a practically perfect Disney getaway with a Land and Sea vacation. At this time, there is no Disney Ground Transportation to travel from the Port Everglades cruise terminal to Walt Disney World Resort. There are, however, several options for you to get to the Most Magical Place on Earth after disembarking from your cruise.

A quick option is to take a short 1+ hour flight from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Port Everglades is only about 3-4 miles from FLL and you can reserve Disney Ground Transportation to take you there after your cruise. When you arrive at MCO, you can catch Disney Ground Transportation again to bring you to the Walt Disney World Resort. You can call Disney Cruise Line and speak with a representative if you’re interested in booking Disney Ground Transportation.

Another option is to rent a car, which is about a 3.5-hour drive between Port Everglades and Orlando. There are several car rental agencies near Port Everglades cruise terminal for you to choose from. Depending on flight availability and cost between FLL and MCO, renting a car for your family may be more convenient and allows for flexibility.

One more alternative is to catch the Brightline train from Fort Lauderdale to MCO, where you can then catch a Disney Ground Transportation shuttle to the Walt Disney World Resort. The train ride takes about 3 hours and it’s a relaxing way to not have to worry about traffic.

I hope this information is helpful for you as you continue to plan your upcoming Disney cruise, Kassie. Please don’t hesitate to sail by planDisney again if you have more questions for us.

Hope to SEA ya real soon,
    Kiki

Greetings! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes or Disney Cruise Line voyages with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
