Sailing on the Fantasy Western the beginning of June w/a 2 yo & 7 yo. We didn't see any port adventures that fit our family. Is there anything walking distance from the port so we can just explore on our own schedule? TIA!

    Ahoy Kadee –

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am sure that your pirate crew is “Fantas”izing about your upcoming cruise, and you will have a fabulous time at all your ports of call.  My pirate family and I have done many Port Adventures on the Western Caribbean and we were so busy getting onto the buses for our adventures, that I did not pay much attention to the ports!  After some research and a visit with my friends at Disney Cruise Line, I think we can help your crew with your adventure.

At Cozumel, the port is called Puerto Langosta and it is a very lovely port.  It basically is the equivalent of an outdoor mall. You can easily debark the ship and walk down the pier to see the Mexican shops, get your hair braided, and eat authentic Mexican cuisine. If you wish to explore further, there are taxis available and vendors looking to sell excursions.

Your pirate crew will need to get a tender boat from the Fantasy to the Port at Grand Cayman, and this tendering service is available to all Disney Cruise Line guests with no additional fee. Grand Cayman’s port leads right into Georgetown which is the heart of town and within easy walking distance.  You will find shops, restaurants and vendors in this sweet little town. If you are adventurous you can rent a car or Jeep and tour the town but remember the left side of the road is the right side!

In Jamaica, pirate families can walk the pier to explore the town, enjoy shopping and famous island cuisine before returning to the ship. Kadee, your question made me realize that I need to spend more time exploring when I get off the boat, and I am glad that you visited us here. Happy vacation planning to you!
