Hi Abby!
Welcome aboard, and thanks for asking a great question about your upcoming vacation to
Alaska with
Disney Cruise Line. Oh boy, my family enjoyed this incredible itinerary on the gorgeous
Disney Wonder in June, so I’m thrilled to share my tips with you. This was such an amazing adventure to Alaska for us – I honestly thought it would be a bucket list, once-in-a-lifetime destination but we got off the ship discussing when we’d return! I can’t wait for you to experience the breathtaking majesty of the sights and
exciting Port Adventures in store.
Yes, the pools and hot tubs are open onboard - even in chilly Alaska! They are consistently heated to a comfortable temperature and hours are posted on signs at the pools and in the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. My family packed our swimwear but never actually got in the water during our week onboard. We had so many other things to do and see that it just never happened, but it was an enticing option! It was fun to see the lifeguards bundled up in their warm gear while Guests happily swam or soaked comfortably. The traditional activities of movies on Funnel Vision, trivia, or quiet adult time at the pools remain available even on the Alaska itineraries in this unique setting with spectacular views while you splash.
I recommend that you pack a cover-up or comfortable sweats to go to and from the pools or hot tubs, as the cool air will be quite different than walking around on deck in a tropical destination. Towels are available at all pools, and you’ll also find generous cozy blankets on deck throughout this sailing.
When you need to warm up, there’s plenty of hot cocoa and even mulled wine to sip! Find this specialty spiced adult beverage on Deck 10, forward, on glacier day or at many bars any other time for a cozy treat. Hot cocoa is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on Deck 9 near
Cabanas with the other
complimentary beverages. Head to any of the bars and lounges, or keep an eye out for a roaming cart, for offerings of various liquors for the cocoa too.
This was truly the adventure of a lifetime for my family, and I hope you have the most wonderful time too, Abby! Don’t miss the talks by a local Naturalist, available most days in the Walt Disney Theatre (check times in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App). We loved learning about this magical destination, its animals and habitats, and understanding the science of a glacier through these special talks. If you miss one, they are available on replay on your stateroom television throughout the cruise.
I hope you can enjoy some special pool or hot tub time in the great Last Frontier – what a memory made! Please let us know if you have any further questions as you prepare for this Alaskan adventure.
Wishing you a magical cruise,
Amy
