Hi Sara,Welcome to planDisney. It's our pleasure to help fellow Guests prepare for magical vacations. Although we are not Cast Members who can provide definitive direction on individual situations, I'm happy to provide support based on my personal experiences sailing with the Disney Cruise Line.I'm glad you are thinking ahead to help make your experience aboard the wonderful Disney Wish as smooth and positive as possible. About a week before your cruise embarks, you may receive an email with the subject "Packing for Your Cruise - Important Information about Prohibited Items." That email provides information about items that are not allowed on board your cruise ship. Among other safety hazards, the email will mention that "irons and steamers" are prohibited. My understanding is that this is referring specifically to appliances used to remove wrinkles from fabric and clothing. Hairstyling and grooming tools such as electric shavers, hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons (or hair straighteners) must follow a separate set of rules. You may find these rules on the Prohibited and Restricted Items page of the Disney Cruise Line website. Specifically, look for the section titled "Exceptions: electrical appliances allowed on board."The exceptions for hairstyling and grooming tools include very specific information about voltage and wattage for hair dryers. Be sure to pay close attention to those. One of my planDisney pals recently discovered her hair dryer did not meet the electrical current limits required by Disney Cruise Line and was unable to bring her appliance on board a cruise. Fortunately, all staterooms are equipped with a hair dryer that Guests may use during their cruise. Flat irons and curling irons are also specifically mentioned as exceptions for appliances that are allowed on board. There isn't specific guidance for electrical voltage and wattage for flat irons. So I can't comment on that aspect of your appliance specifically. Otherwise, based on how you have described your device, it would seem allowable according to the stated rules and restrictions. Be sure to ask your stateroom host where you can find a mat on which you may more safely lay hot styling tools.Ultimately, baggage inspectors and the ship's engineers have the final say on whether an item is deemed safe or unsafe for travel on the ship. On a Disney cruise several years ago, I packed a humidifier for my family. That type of device shows up under the "Items Requiring Inspection" section of the prohibited item. So our item was removed from our luggage for further inspection. Our humidifier was a low-power type that didn't pose a safety hazard. We were able to stop by Guest Relations on board the ship to retrieve the device and we were then allowed to use it in our stateroom during our cruise. Thanks for asking your question, Sara. You are going to love the Disney Wish; it's our daughter's favorite ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. If you are looking for any more advice and support as you finalize your preparations for your upcoming Disney cruise, I hope you'll visit us again here at planDisney.Have a magical vacation, Sara!~Tony
