Ahoy there Heather, it's great to welcome you aboard!
Now this past year I had to opportunity to enjoy two
Very Merrytime Cruises on the
Disney Wish, and even had the opportunity to observe the decorating process as it was still underway as guests embarked in Port Canaveral. As you can imagine, decking out
the Grand Hall in all of its holiday glory can be quite a time-consuming and labor-intensive process, and from my experience living and working on board this involves specialized shoreside teams who come on board early in the morning to accomplish it all on one of our turnaround days such as when we're docked in
Port Canaveral.
While we can't share a specific date as to when decorations will come down (especially as anything on board is subject to change without prior notice), I can provide a little insight about last year's sailings at the end of December. Guests who sailed onboard the Disney Wish to celebrate New Year's Eve were delighted to discover that the ship was still decorated for the holidays and even on December 31,
Disney Castaway Cay still had its iconic tree full of massive marine life ornaments up for guests to spot.
So for fellow seafarers who are
cruising close to the holidays, there's always a chance that they might experience a bit of remaining cheer before it all gets taken down! In my personal experience, those teams of Cast Members like the ones over at
Holiday Services are so efficient and coordinated in their installation and removal it really was shocking to be able to wake up one morning on board to see it all magically transformed back. (As an added tip, right after any major holiday or celebration you might be lucky enough to find some discounted merchandise so be sure to keep an eye out - as well as at Disney's Character Warehouse locations in Florida before or after your voyage!)
Here's to sailing off into the shimmering seas at end off 2024!
