Why ahoy there Karen, and welcome aboard planDisney!
If there's anything better than being able to experience a
6-Night Very Merrytime Western Caribbean Cruise from Galveston, it's cruising with a very thoughtful grandma looking to stash some surprises in her luggage to bring on board! Like her sister ships in the fleet, the
Disney Magic will be
decked out for the holidays and I've personally experienced the joy of unwrapping presents in the beautifully decorated atrium alongside my fellow seafarers in their pyjamas with the smell of gingerbread in the air.
Speaking with Disney Cruise Line directly, the Cast Members cannot guarantee that
packed items that you have already wrapped would not be required to be opened or inspected as you arrive at the port on Embarkation Day. (I've witnessed a parent in the past who was stopped prior to boarding as she intended to bring on a remote-controlled toy gift that she was unaware was considered a
Prohibited or Restricted Item, especially as this list may be updated often without prior notice.) Depending on what the gifts might be and what the
Galveston-based Port security team may see as they pass through their scanning equipment, you might not have any issues but as someone who personally would rather avoid any embarkation delays I normally just choose to bring my wrapping paper and gifts separately to wrap in my stateroom on board just in case. I've even seen some folks descend upon the
Youth Spaces on board in desperate search of tape for last-minute wrapping, so it's always good to plan ahead and be prepared!
I'm happy to let you know that they have just very recently made
new in-room surprises available to purchase for the holidays, which you might be interested in ahead of your voyage. In the meantime, I hope that you have a most magical time at sea celebrating Christmas with the grandkids and
be sure to stop by planDisney again for any more advice or tips as you make memories on your next adventures together!
Here's to Holidays spent on the High seas!
