Ahoy, Marlene!
Thanks for stopping by the Moms Panel with your question.
It won't be long before November arrives, and you'll be setting sail with Captain Mickey and his crew! I'm sure you're counting down the days - I know I would be!
When you check in at the port, you'll be issued a Key to the World Card. This card will serve as your stateroom key, boarding pass, and shipboard charge card. Since the Disney ships operate on a "cash-free" basis, all shopping and room charges will be made with your Key to the World and charged to your stateroom. This holds true when your ship docks at Disney's private island,
Castaway Cay. You won't need cash or credit cards on the island, only your Key to the World card!
A great perk of sailing with Disney Cruise Line is 24-hour Room Service, included in the cost of your cruise. While the food is included, tips for the cast members that deliver it is not. We usually keep an envelope of small bills in our stateroom safe for tips!
When visiting other ports in the Bahamas, you'll be required to carry a Driver's license and your Key to the World Card. Disney Cruise Line recommends having a copy of your passport or other government-issued photo ID with you as well. (Guests are encouraged to leave passports and any travel documents in their room safe when debarking the ship.) Major credit cards are accepted as payment in most retail locations in the ports, so there's no need to carry large amounts of cash (in fact, it's discouraged). We typically carry a limited "cash stash" to tip drivers or tour operators on our
Port Adventures.
I hope this helps with your planning! Please let us know if you have further questions before you set sail.
Have a magical day! - Diane W.
