Ahoy there, Adriana and welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited that you're planning on setting sail with Disney Cruise Line on the
Disney Dream! While I'm a firm believer that
ANY time is wonderful for
https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/why-cruise-disney/castaway-club/ relaxation on the high seas, I've found that May is "practically perfect in every way," as Mary Poppins might say!
Now, I've heard of taking an adventure by
land and sea, but your plan to add "by air" to the mix by
parasailing sounds incredible! I have great news for you: it's definitely possible to experience both the Castaway Cay 5K and the parasailing
Port Adventure with just a little planning!
Currently, the
"Know Before You Go: Ports of Call" information mentions the Castaway Cay 5K group start is currently paused. While this is a departure from what you may have experienced before, it actually gives you much more flexibility to get both activities in! Guests can run the 5K course on their own - no registration required - and check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for location and times to collect their finishing medallion!
Now that you know you can run the Castaway Cay 5K during any part of your day ashore, you can concentrate on being ready to book your parasailing Port Adventure! Be sure you know your
Castaway Club status and have made your final payment so you can book as early as possible. I'd probably look for a later parasailing time and still run the 5K early, then come back and get freshened-up to take to the skies - but it all depends on your preferences and what is available when you book. Either way, you're in for an incredible experience!
Parasailing during a day at
Disney Castaway Cay is one of my favorite Port Adventures ever - and one of the most convenient, too! From the short walk over to "Marge's Barges" to check in, to harnessing-in and taking flight, there really is nothing that compares to soaring high above the iconic funnels of the Disney Dream and looking out across the beautiful, crystal clear waters all around the island. It's like riding Soarin' in real life!
While you're aloft, be sure to keep a weather eye open for sea life - I've even seen a sea turtle from the highest point, and can only imagine how big it must have been up-close! I'll have to ask Crush if he knows him next time he swims by at
Animator's Palate...
One thing I'd be sure to remember is parasailing is very dependent upon the weather - so be sure to check your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for the latest status of all your Port Adventures, as they're always subject to change.
Well, Adriana, I hope your May sailing will bring you "blue skies and sunshine, guaranteed" like Mama Odie says. I wish you the most magical vacation - and a good 5K time, too!
Fair winds and following seas!
Andrew
