Ahoy there, Abby! Thanks so much for making a return trip to planDisney, it's great to SEA you again in the
Disney Cruise Line corner of planDisney. I am sure you are counting down the days until your vacation, and as a runner myself, this is a question that I definitely appreciate! Lace up those running shoes, and let's get to it!
The
Disney Dream has a special place in my heart, and you are going to have an amazing time exploring the ship and the destinations on your March itinerary. Escaping the Midwestern winter for some sunshine and waves is always a great idea - AND you'll get to spend some quality beach time at
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!
Lookout Cay recently installed signage that shows a 5K course so runners and walkers can get some miles in during their time in port. From what I've heard from my planDisney pals, it's mostly paved with some packed sand trails and has some rolling hills for a bit of a challenge. They recommend getting your run in early, as it gets quite hot and humid as the day progresses. The Lookout Cay gift shops have recently had t-shirts in stock for purchase commemorating the unofficial 5k!
Onboard the ship, the fitness center treadmills can hopefully fill in the gap for some shorter runs. I recommend timing a run while you're entering port - I wound up on a treadmill on the Dream a couple of years ago when the ship pulled into Nassau, and it was definitely a unique experience!
Abby, I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes. If our planDisney crew can help out with any other questions to make your vacation a practically perfect one, please come back and see us again!
Anchors Aweigh!
