Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question!
I really wanted to do a sailing on the
Disney Dream this summer either in or out of Copenhagen, but the timing just didn’t work out. I have friends who absolutely rave about the city, so you’re in for a wonderful time, especially if you get to spend a few days there before your cruise sets sail.
I’ve taken a look at the distance between the Port of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Airport and it seems to be about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic or whether you opt for public transit. Disney cruise line recommends 1:00 PM as the earliest departure time on debarkation day, and I think that’s sensible advice.
It may be theoretically possible for you to make an 11 AM flight out of Copenhagen, if you’re able to walk off the ship via Express Walk-Off, but you’re taking a big risk that the ship will a) dock on time and b) that you won’t have any issues leaving the ship, clearing customs and getting to the airport. If one little thing goes wrong, you could wind up missing your flight, which is highly problematic when you’re overseas. Disembarkation day is sad enough, I wouldn’t want to add an unnecessary layer of stress to the sadness! In short, I would recommend following
Disney Cruise Line’s recommendations and avoid any flights departing Copenhagen before 1 PM.
I hope my answer helps you plan smooth and safe travels this August! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
