We will be sailing on the Disney Dream in Aug. 2018. My husband and I plan on using the navigator app on our cell phones, but our 11 year old twins do not have cell phones. Can we communicate with each other if they use the wave phones and we use the app?

    Ahoy, Angela!

I'm so happy you cruised in to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I'm sure you're counting down the days until you set sail with Captain Mickey on the beautiful Disney Dream!

On a Disney Cruise Line vacation, we're always amazed at all the awesome activities for cruisers of all ages. We even make sure to pack colored highlighter pens to mark our favorite "can't miss" activities for each member of the family. That being said, sometimes that means the members of our sailing party are spread out all over the ship at different times of the day. Fortunately, we're able to stay connected with each other through the use of Wave Phones (provided by Disney - two per stateroom), and the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App (on our personal smartphones).

Wave phones allow you to call any shipboard phone, stateroom or other Wave Phone while on the ship or while visiting Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. (You can send texts between Wave Phones as well.) With the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, you can access cruise information on your personal smartphone - such as activities, menus, weather and more, as well as connect with others using the app through the onboard chat feature. My most-used feature in the app is being able to save my "favorite" activities for quick reference throughout the day. I don't want to miss any Disney Trivia games!

Unfortunately, Wave Phones are not able to communicate with Guests' smartphones, and are only equipped to communicate with other Wave Phones or shipboard phones. If you'd like to request more Wave Phones for your stateroom, they are available at Guest Services for a nominal fee.

I hope this helps answer your question - please let us know if you have more questions before your vacation! - Diane W.
