Ahoy, Laine!
Welcome aboard planDisney! I love that you’re already planning out the logistics for your summer sailing
aboard the Disney Destiny. Between the Heroes and Villains theme, a few days in Orlando beforehand, and the excitement of a brand-new Disney ship, your vacation is already shaping up to feel like Nick Fury assembling the Avengers.
Unfortunately, the not-so-enchanted news is that Disney does not currently offer
ground transfers between Orlando International Airport and Port Everglades. At this time, there also is not a Disney transfer option from Fort Lauderdale back to Orlando after your cruise. I know that’s a bit of a bibbidi bobbidi bummer because Disney transfers make everything feel so seamless from the moment vacation begins.
With that in mind, one option I would definitely recommend looking into is Brightline. Depending on your timing, Brightline can be a really smooth way to travel between Orlando and Fort Lauderdale without dealing with traffic. After all, nobody wants to kick off their Disney cruise vacation feeling like they just battled a storm through the Bermuda Triangle before even reaching the ship. The trains are comfortable, spacious, and can make the trip feel like part of the adventure instead of just transportation.
If your family prefers a little more flexibility, renting a car is another solid option. It does add a few extra logistics, but it also gives you freedom to explore Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, or anywhere in between at your own pace. For some families, that flexibility is worth its weight in pixie dust, especially if flight times don’t line up perfectly with train schedules.
I hope this helps as you
piece together your heroic summer adventure! Between your time in Orlando and your adventure aboard the Disney Destiny, your family has an incredible vacation ahead filled with plenty of Disney magic both on land and at sea.
Sea ya real soon with warm air, calm seas, and a ship that always feels like home,
Dustin
