Ahoy there, Mary Ann!
Welcome aboard planDisney! How exciting that you’ll be
sailing on the Destiny during its second voyage! There’s something extra special about experiencing a brand-new ship—it’s like stepping into an uncharted adventure where every corner holds a first-time surprise. And with stops at both
Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay, you’re in for a double-dose of island magic worthy of any Disney dreamer’s treasure map!
Now, let’s talk about your flight. While disembarkation day is usually the part no one wants to think about (we’d all rather stay onboard just a little longer), Disney Cruise Line does provide
important guidelines to make travel smooth. For Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Disney recommends booking flights no earlier than 11:00 AM, and for Miami International Airport, no earlier than 12:00 PM. Since your airline adjusted your departure to 11:22 AM, you’re still safely within the recommended timeframe—great news!
From my own experience, the Fort Lauderdale Airport is a quick ride from
Port Everglades, so you should have plenty of time. That said, it’s always wise to factor in your crew’s specific needs. For example, if anyone in your party requires wheelchair assistance, you may want to allow extra time for the process of debarking, collecting luggage, and going through customs. And if you’re using ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft, keep in mind that mornings at the port can be busy, so you might wait a little longer to be picked up.
I hope this helps give you confidence that your new flight time is workable while still leaving room for a little extra planning peace of mind. Wishing you smooth sailing, sunshine skies, and a disembarkation day as easy as Genie granting a wish!
Sea ya real soon as we ride the wave of summer’s final stretch in Disney style,
