I am sailing on the Destiny with my family and I pre-purchased MagicBands. I read online that park visitors use the My Disney Experience app to customize bands and check battery levels. Can I do this as well or should I wait until boarding?

Hi there, Jay! Welcome to planDisney!

Your cruise aboard the Disney Destiny is right on the horizon, and I’m so excited for you! It’s great that you have pre-purchased MagicBands—or DisneyBand+—as it's called on board Disney Cruise Line, as it’s going to unlock magical possibilities! Similar to the Disney theme parks, I love how convenient it is to use!

Some things guests can do with DisneyBand+ on board the Disney Destiny are unlocking stateroom doors, making purchases to their onboard folio (their stateroom), checking kids out of youth clubs, tapping for Disney cruise photos, and using all of its interactive features, such as during the deck parties and playing The Haunted Mansion: Happy Hunt

You can customize your DisneyBand+ at home by assigning each band to a specific guest in your stateroom. You may have already done this when you purchased it, since a My Disney Account is required at checkout, but I’ll share, just in case. To assign a DisneyBand+, on the Disney Cruise Line website, in the “Already Booked” tab, navigate to "DisneyBand+ & More" under “My Account”. From there, you will be able to assign a DisneyBand+ to each guest in your stateroom.

Checking the battery level is very easy. All you need to do is press the tiny button on the back of the DisneyBand+. Flashing Red indicates “no battery”. Flashing Yellow indicates “low battery”. Flashing Green indicates “full battery”. You may charge your DisneyBand+ using the handy charger that it comes with. While it has a pretty long battery life of about 1 to 3 days, depending on your individual usage, I like to charge mine every evening before bedtime to ensure that it’s fully charged when I need it in the morning. When you plug it in, it will also automatically light up and tell you how much battery life it currently has.

Besides making sure it’s linked to your Disney Cruise Line account, there’s nothing else you need to do to use DisneyBand+ on board. It really can't be any easier! On the day that you board your cruise, the Cast Member checking you in will link each DisneyBand+ for the guests in your stateroom. Therefore, it’s helpful to wear it once you arrive at the cruise port. Plus, it adds a bit of magic to your sailing even before you arrive! I know I involuntarily smile the moment I wrap that DisneyBand+ on my arm, because I'm almost there! Once on board, if you have any issues using it, the Guest Services Desk will be happy to help.

Jay, I hope you make beautiful memories of heroic proportions while on board the Disney Destiny. Please sail back to planDisney if you have any other questions.
