We are sailing on a 7-day cruise. I keep reading about using the app to find the theme for the evening once onboard but how do I know what to pack for my daughter if I don’t know the themes ahead of time?

    Ahoy, Antoinette!

Welcome aboard planDisney. Oh boy! Longer cruises like yours are my family's favorite type of cruises. We disembarked from the Disney Fantasy earlier this week after a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral. You are going to have an amazing time Where Magic Meets the Sea!

I have three suggested guidelines for your cruise:

    1. Relax. This is your vacation to enjoy the way you want to.
    2. Have as much fun as possible.
    3. Adults have every right (if not more!) to enjoy their Disney vacations as much as children.

If you consider those guidelines when it comes to packing and preparing for themed events aboard your Disney Cruise, you are on your way toward an experience that is “practically perfect in every way.” If you feel like dressing to the nines for formal night and semi-formal night, you are welcome to enjoy the most elegant nights imaginable. If you are excited to dress in elaborate costumes for Pirate Night, blimey, you’ll surely have a jolly night on the seas. Or if you simply want to relax every night in comfortable shorts and a T-shirt, nobody will think any less of you for it. Again, it’s your vacation to enjoy the way you want to.

That said, if you would like to participate in the optional themed nights scheduled during your cruise, that is perfectly fine. The exact themes and nights depend on the ship and the specific cruise itinerary and are also subject to change. Here are general guidelines for dressing for dinner on the Disney Cruise Line. You’re welcome to write us back with more information about your specific cruise, if you’d like. With that, we could help research which type of themed night your cruise is expected to have. (Most itineraries feature a Pirate Night.) You may choose to reach out to Disney Cruise Line directly by phone to inquire as well.

As an example, the following represents the currently scheduled ports and themed nights for each day of the 7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise aboard the Disney Treasure due to embark on March 15, 2025:

    1. Port Canaveral, Cruise Casual
    2. At Sea, Formal Night
    3. At Sea, Cruise Casual
    4. Tortola, BVI, Pirate Night
    5.  St. Thomas, USVI, Cruise Casual
    6. At Sea, Semi-Formal Night
    7. Castaway Cay, Cruise Casual

I hope that helps with your planning, Antoinette. Please feel free to reach out to us again if you’d like more information, tips, or recommendations. I’m sure that you and your daughter are going to have an amazing time aboard the Disney Cruise Line!
