Hello, We are sailing this August on the Fantasy. Last time we went out of Puerto Rico and that was our first Disney Cruise. This year we will be departing from Port Canaveral. With it being under construction will there be a delay in boarding the ship?

    Hi there, Jennifer!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for bringing your question to us to answer!  I am so excited to hear that you will be once again cruising with Captain Mickey later this year!  As a Castaway Club member, you are fully aware of everything amazing that awaits you onboard a Disney Cruise Line vacation!  But, if you’ve sailed out of San Juan previously, you will likely be setting sail on a different ship which is SO exciting!  You will love finding new and different things aboard the Disney Fantasy!  Get ready for a whole new adventure!

Port Canaveral Port Terminal is currently under construction to add on a new terminal, which is so exciting!  Currently there are no delays with boarding and disembarking the ships, but please know that this is always subject to change.  As your trip approaches, you can certainly check back with us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel and we will be happy to check about any updated information.  But if you are in the midst of planning your arrival and departure flights you will still want to adhere to the Disney Cruise Line’s recommendations as far as flight times go.  Disney Cruise Line recommends you arrive at Orlando International Airport be no later than 1:45PM on embarkation day and leave no earlier than 11:25AM on disembarkation day.  This allows Guests ample time to get from the airport to Port Canaveral, which is about an hour drive.  If you are planning on using Disney Cruise Line’s ground transfers, those do need to be reserved at least three days prior to your sail date.  These can be added by contacting Disney Cruise Line at (800) 951-3532 or your travel agent.

As you continue planning, please come back with any other questions you may have!

    Happy Sailing!
